I have been there before. It is 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and I haven’t even thought about dinner. I admit it, some days I am just lazy. I’m tired. My brain’s idea box is empty.
What is worse, is that I haven’t even taken meat out of the freezer to defrost. If I don’t figure out something, my family is going to riot. And, my budget for the week doesn’t allow for take-out.
It’s not that we don’t have food in the house. We have plenty of food in the cupboard and the fridge. (Who doesn’t love PB&J?) If I feel even an ounce of fortitude, I could even defrost some meat in the microwave. But, unfortunately…
I’m suffering from Cooking Apathy.
Cooking Apathy is almost always followed by something worse – Cooking Anxiety. Cooking Apathy and Cooking Anxiety, if not properly treated, can lead to something worse – Cooking Experiment.
Now, sometimes, the Cooking Experiment will go well. But, IMHO, Cooking Experiments tend to explode. Sometimes figuratively, sometimes literally. So, the best way to combat Cooking Apathy in the first place is by practicing The Three Peas, I mean The Three P’s:
- Planning
- Preparation
- Patience
